Have a 2001 Ford Explorer I replaced the battery 3x 2 used & 1 brand new they all went out within a week. We did an alternater test with both it’s not the [alternator](/topics-alternator-ford/) trying to see what’s next to do Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not? It’s a brand new battery from autozone Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Explorer yourself? What have you tried so far? No I have a mechanic. He changed [spark plugs](/topics-spark-plug-ford/) & [starter](/topics-starter-ford/) already. Then he changed battery posts & battery Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No. Just why my truck keep draining the batteries when it’s not the alternator

My truck keep draining every battery I buy. My mechanic did alternator test & he say it's not the alternator. He changed plugs battery posts as well we don't know what's causing it to drain every battery

That would be a draw on the system your mechanic would need to do a draw test to pinpoint the problem I hate to say it but the mechanic thats looking at it is unqualified to do this job you need to find a better mechanic

What's a draw test?
Automotive Expert
its a test that will find a electrical current draw

Do I take it to autozone? Is it free for draw test
Automotive Expert
no you need a dealer or shop to do this, it required a very skilled mechanic

Ok so I need to take it to a shop so they can put it on computer? When I get a boost it cranks up but soon as I cut the car off I have to get another boost. That's with used & new battery
Automotive Expert
they dont use a computer its a electrical test, and yes you need to take it to a shop

Ok thank you
Automotive Expert
your very welcome

Bad wheel bearing. How long can you drive it? 200 miles from home. safe????

My 2004 Nissan X-Trail is intermittently stalling at traffic lights and stop signs.
Hi there. Having the exhaust manifold repaired should not have contributed to the engine stalling. Assuming, the Check Engine Light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) is not coming on, leads me to believe the ECM (engine control module)/computer is not recognizing the fault. As...
