Q: Why would I smell exhaust on the inside of my 2006 Volkswagen

asked by on March 30, 2017

Hello, I have plenty of smoke being released from the tail pipes as per usual & saw no leaks around the cat converter when I tried plugging them but when I have the air blowing, I can smell a fairly strong scent of emissions. The smell does not happen if I have it set to recycle the cabin air. Based on this, where can I assume the leak is occurring?

My car has 140000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
