Q: Engine light flashed on freeway?

asked by on December 10, 2016

I was driving pretty far on the freeway about 2 and a half hours and for about 2 seconds my engine light came on and was flashing then turned off and never turned back on again for the rest of the drive. But when I got off the freeway my temperature was almost maxed out? What could have caused the engine light to come on and flash and what caused the temperature to rise? The engine light never turned back on after that.

My car has 122054 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
