Q: Could it be because of transmission that car lose power and won't move now into drive or reverse but engine is fine and functional

asked by on January 07, 2018

My car suddenly stopped last night.would only go like 5 mph then after we got to a spot to park it it won't go in drive or reverse, just sits like it's in park but it's not.Engine is good but our transmission fluid is overfilled also because of previous company and oil change. I start it and sounds good but when put in drive or reverse does not move,it idles and revs like normal but no movement.it has hard shifts for while now but was doing fine til hour after we put Lucas fuel system cleaner in it cause auto parts advised. Thank you in advance

My car has 150000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi Danielle. Thanks for contacting us today. There could be a few issues causing this problem, ranging from an inner transmission seal leak, a shift solenoid failure or other internal transmission components being damaged. This is something that a professional transmission specialist in your city should inspect, to determine what repairs are needed.
