Q: Condensor fan is operating for the cooling fan

asked by on November 03, 2017

Hey I was hoping you might have some advice for the cooling system of my 93 Prelude Si, non vtec automatic.

I got the car running without overheating for 45 mins+ but I'm having an issue with my fans. The condenser fan is turning on at operating temperature instead of the cooling fan. When I turn the AC on the condensor fan runs on it's own.

I have replaced the thermostat, the cooling fan relay, almost all fuses in under hood and underneath the driver side fuse box. Sensor on the thermostat housing was replaced, system has been bled multiple times.

Cooling fan will turn on when jumped at the relay under the hood.

My car has 128000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Clunking noise at right passenger's side
Hello. The struts could definitely cause a clunking noise. However, there are other suspension parts that should be checked as well, such as the upper/lower control arms, and the upper/lower ball joints. These could also cause a clunking noise. The...

Burning oil
Hi there. The engine has valve guide oil seals that prevents oil puddling up onto the valve and allowing the valve to suck in the oil. The valve guide seals are leaking (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/smoke-from-engine-or-exhaust-inspection) too much and causing excessive oil to...

I'm a bit confused. You show 1 timing chain, my 2006 CTS has a total of three. Perhaps you're suggesting that the main chain is damaged.
When it comes to replacing the timing chain in your vehicle, it is best to replace all of the timing chains. For your engine, the camshaft timing chains are more likely to stretch more than the main drive timing chain....
i heard yo mu had to replace the wheel hub if the wheel bering damages is tht true
If wheel bearing is in need of replacement on this vehicle then you will need to replace the entire hub assembly with it since it comes as an assembly incorporated with the speed sensor.
02 Grand Vitara 2.5L idles fine, but won't accelerate. Timing chain, MAF, fuel pump, compression, spark, injector pulse OK
It is possible that the fuel filter was never replaced with the fuel pump replacement. This could mean that the fuel filter is clogged and only allowing enough fuel to pass through for idle. Once more fuel is required when...
I have a 95 Nissan Truck, short bed XE, 2.4 liter, 2 wheel drive. About a year or more the check engine light came on. Code:43.
Hi Aaron. Thanks for contacting us today. A damaged throttle position sensor can cause a lot of issues, including the one you have mentioned. However, it's also possible that other, routine maintenance problems like clogged fuel injectors, dirty EGR valve,...
