26Is lit upLight 26 is on
Automotive Expert
HI Ok, that is the check [engine](/topics-engine-chrysler/) light. It means that the engine control module has detected a fault in the engine, [transmission](/topics-transmission-chrysler/) or emissions management systems

how are these issues diagnosed?
Automotive Expert
HI If yours has a digital odometer and uses a regular ignition key, do the following within 5 seconds turn the key on-off-on-off-on, leaving it in the on position(this is the position just before cranking). Now look at the odometer. Fault codes should scroll across as Pxxxx codes. Example - P0430 Do this and let me know results

Should I be looking at the middle where the light is?Or where it says system ok
Automotive Expert
hi you will be looking at the mileage odometer. that is where the codes will scroll across

OkI am seeing a new light (17) in the middle, but nothing on the sides
Automotive Expert
HI Ok, that is the ETC (electronic throttle control) light. This is why the check engine light is on. There is a fault in the electronic throttle control which comprises of the APP(accelerator pedal position) sensor, throttle body and the computer. These 3 components will need to be diagnosed with a shop level scan tool to determine which is faulty Depending upon which is faulty, there is a possibility that the engine will not respond when you press the gas pedal, or that it will stick at wide open throttle, or worst case, a no start condition. I would advise to have it towed to a shop unless there is one within a few blocks of where you are at

This is what I am getting. \_ \_ \_ \_ \_ \_ and it say done without numbers popping upIt says -done-
Automotive Expert
HI That is because of the ETC light being on. The codes are going to be manufacturer specific in this case for the electronic throttle control system and need a shop level scan tool to diagnose the ETC to see which is faulty - the APP(accelerator pedal position) sensor, throttle body or the computer.

Will that cause the carb to over heat 2
Automotive Expert
HI Possible causes are sticking [thermostat](/topics-thermostat-chrysler/), restricted [radiator](/topics-radiator-chrysler/), faulty [water pump](/topics-water-pump-chrysler/), headgasket leaking internally in engine, collapsed coolant hose, engine cooling fan not working

the etc don't have anything to do with overheating?
Automotive Expert
HI separate issue altogether

Okay
Automotive Expert
you are welcome

How can I go about finding a decent mechanic near me
Automotive Expert
HI Best way is to talk to friends, coworkers, family and neighbors. You will usually find 2-3 shops repeatedly referred to as being honest, fair, and good workmanship.

Power steering not working in a 2003 Acura CL

If the control arm (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/control-arm-assembly-replacement) is bent, almost certainly the wheel will be bent first, not the other way around. If you jack up the rear, block the other wheels to be sure the car can't shift or roll, put...
