I have a 2013 Chevy Malibu. Yesterday it wouldn’t start. Jumped the car off. Went to Walmart. Wouldn’t start again. Got jumped off and my car went into anti theft mode. Got home. Turned it off and back on. Worked fine. Everything worked. Got up this morning and won’t start again. Making a clicking sound when i try to start it. Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on? It just started yesterday and no clue. Someone said dead battery but the dealership i bought it from supposedly changed it in June Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far? When running the battery was at 14v. When it wouldn’t crank it was at 10v I’m trying to if i can figure out the issue Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? When running the battery was at 14v. When it wouldn’t crank it was at 10v I’m trying to if i can figure out the issue

Automotive Expert
it would seem your battery is in fact bad

it's my 16 year Old daughters car we bought her in June.
Automotive Expert
if you remove it and take it to auto zone or most parts stores they can do a load test on it

is the battery making it go into anti theft mode?
Automotive Expert
yes, a dead battery or removing and replacing the battery can put it into anti-theft

The dealership said they replaced it in June. Would it go bad that quick or did they lie?Hello?
Automotive Expert
they can go bad at anytime..yes

Also it is throwing a code that her thermostat is bad. It's reading cold all the time. It doesn't show it running normal. I'm assuming just a thermostat would need to be replaced?Ok. I'll take it out and bring it to auto zone to check it. Crazy that it went out this quick if they didn't lie of course
Automotive Expert
yes, replace the thermostat and clear the code. sometimes you can get a bad new battery.. thanks

Ok thanks!
