asked by on January 25, 2016

I replaced the ECM modular, but my car still doesn't start. Do I need to program the ECM modular?

You did not say why the ECU was diagnosed, but the ECU would need to be programed to your specific vehicle by a dealership. If the ECU did not fix whatever issue prompted the replacement, then the car will not start until the issue is fixed. A qualified technician would be able to diagnose why your car is not starting.

The smoke could be burning oil. If the smoke occurs just at start up, the source could be leaking valve stem oil seals. If the smoke continues but is mainly white, that could signify an internal coolant leak.
