I took the high pressure fuel pump apart trying to figure out how the diaphragms go back in Mechanic's Assistant: Okay, I'll connect you to the Mechanic to go over that information regarding your car. Before I do, is there anything else you want him to know? How to reset timing cuz the type of skip 3teeth

Hello, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* will be helping you with your car question today. I don't see a lot of information in your post, other than instructions on fuel pump assembly, so will need a bit more information, specifically year/make/model/engine, or just a VIN please. Also, we only cover one item per session here, so we can start with either the fuel pump assembly, or timing, and then move onto the next in a new session.

Ok so let's do the timing the tensioner on the chain in the back of the engine needs replaced an the timing jumped 3 teeth i need to know how to reset the timing

I still have no idea what kind of car we're working on here. Can I get a VIN please?

Ok, so BPG engine. Belt driven exhaust cam, chain driven intake. Now, have you already set the crank to exhaust cam timing? And do you have the valve cover off, and the special cam holder tool?

I set the crank to tdc

Ok, using the mark on the harmonic balancer to the mark on the lower timing cover? Got that

I don't have valve cover off yet an I do have tool
Automotive Expert
Ok, let's backtrack a bit. You say that it was 3 teeth off? Was it still running?

But had no power
Automotive Expert
Ok, got that. Ok, back to the present. I'm not convinced the engine isn't hurt, but let's get it timed up. When you say jumped 3 teeth, you mean belt not chain, correct? Now, crank to timing position, new belt, roller, water pump, and exhaust cam to timing position? That's all set?

the belt
Automotive Expert
Ok, got that. And all the new belt parts are installed and marks are proper after hand cranking the crank over 2x?

Let me get back to you on that I'm still working on it
Automotive Expert
Ok, let me know

Will do thanx
Automotive Expert
sure thing

Since I haven't heard back, I'll have to assume that my suggestions about resetting timing properly did the trick. If not, please respond, and I'm happy to continue on.
