Q: Car overheated but is fine now

asked by on March 20, 2018

So I was driving on i-75 when I noticed stem coming from under my hood.(well what I believe is stem) I got off and open my hood to see a big bulge in the hose that connects to the thermostat/ thermostat housing. Then a few seconds later it popped open and thick stem just shot out. So I cut the part of the hose that messed up off and reconnect so I could try to make it home. But it happened again about 4 miles down the road. The car overheated and all the pressure i guess caused the hose to pop. So I ended up having to leave the car in a parking lot for two days because I couldn't get it towed. So when I decided to try and get it home myself I turned the car on and got a friend to follow behind me. But nothing happen the car didn't over heat at all. So I don't know what happened. Few days ago before this I had a leak in water pump and used so leak stop stuff from Walmart. Maybe that clogged something up on the radiator or something??

My car has 250000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
