Is any of the linkage broken or bent?

Where do I look and how do I check it? I grew up in a parts store so I'm pretty car savvy but havent dealt with manual transmissions just automatic so I'm lost on this one. When I took the console out I found this piece down there.
Automotive Expert
You would just look at the linkage on the shifter and transmission. Does anything look out of place or bent?

I am trying to send a picture of the broken piece but it doesnt say upload anywhere

Ok give me a moment to check out the pictures.

Ok
Automotive Expert
That definitely looks like a problem. Where did that come from?
Automotive Expert
If that came from the shifter or shift linkage then that will be the problem. You'll have to replace that part. My goal is to give you the best service possible and to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. If I’m not online at the time, I will respond ASAP when I get back.

What part is this and where is it suppose to be? I found it here....it was right next to the shifter
Automotive Expert
I would have to look over the shifter and linkage in person to find that broken piece. I can't say for sure without inspecting it. You should see some piece somewhere that it came from.

Is this the linkage? Could it have come from the hole on the side of this puece
Automotive Expert
Yes that's part of the linkage.

The broken piece has a screw in the middle of it
