I have had a break down mechanic try to start my car this morning. He has advised that the rocker cover gasket needs replacing. Mechanic's Assistant: Is this your first time dealing with this issue? What size is your engine? Can I book a full service for the car Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? The car is a min cooper 2008 and has 49236 miles on the clock Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Cooper yourself? What have you tried so far? No, had some issues with water a few weeks back. Car has been dried out and took it to a car tech mechanic who reset the warning lights Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Was driving perfectly however would not start this morning

Hi! My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will be able to assist you. I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with your vehicle. Don’t worry though, we’ll be able to figure this out. Thank you for taking the time to let us help you out with this problem and hopefully we can sort it out quickly. Please understand that I do not know your knowledge or capabilities so I may need to ask questions to find out basic information to help solve your specific problem. Sometimes it may take a moment for me to respond because I may have to look up information about your concern. I appreciate your patience and will provide responses as soon as possible. If your valve cover gasket is leaking then it will definitely need to be changed. If the warning lights are not coming on anymore then the faults should be gone and you will just need to replace the valve cover gaskets. I would do this soon because it can cause all kinds of problems. It would not cause a starting problem unless the oil is leaking onto the starter. My goal is to give you the best service possible and to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. If I’m not online at the time, I will respond ASAP when I get back.

there seemed to be a lot of oil in one cylinder and a bit in the second thoughWould a full service to the motor cover the replacement of the valve cover gasket?
Automotive Expert
Oh ok. If it's pouring oil in to the cylinder then it will cause a no start problem. The rocker cover is the valve cover. It's the same thing.

Would a full service on the motor cover the valve cover gasket replacement?
Automotive Expert
Every shop is different so you would have to call them and see what their "full service" would cover. If I were to guess, I would say no.

ok thank you for your help
