Q: Camry 2000 Le does not start

asked by on

Last night the windows stopped working and then the radio was turning on and off now when we start the car it just makes a clicking sound

Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle is experiencing an issue with the charging system. This means the battery has failed to hold a charge, or the alternator has failed to charge it. While driving the vehicle relies mostly on the alternator for its power supply, although the battery does help complete the circuit. When starting the vehicle relies on the battery. Luckily both of these parts can be tested relatively easy if you have a voltmeter, or you can remove them and have both of them tested at your local automotive store. Consider the fact that if the alternator has failed, that it will put extra strain on the battery and possibly cause it to fail prematurely. Further testing needs to be done before you can take corrective action. For more diagnostic or repair help, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.
