What the P2444 code means

The purpose of the secondary air injection system pump is to reduce the amount of harmful pollutants that are emitted into the atmosphere by the exhaust. To do so, the secondary air injection system pump is to pull fresh air into the exhaust system.

The secondary air injection system sends a voltage signal to the powertrain control module (PCM). This voltage signal carries information regarding pressure and flow that is expected to remain within predetermined specification that has been set by the manufacturer.

If this voltage signal does not remain within the manufacturer’s predetermined specifications, the PCM will set the P2444 diagnostic trouble code and the Check Engine Light will come on.

  • If the pressure sensor connector is damaged, corroded, or has bent pin, repair and replace as required.
