Mechanic told me this info. And I wamt to know why. I know that there is a lock tab in front of pump thay takes a special tool to remove the tab. Is this tab considered the housing? And why would the housing cause the leak. Oh the problem being that my car over heated and coolant was spraying everwhere. I filled it back up with water and drove about 4 miles and same thing needle indicator shot up to the top. But when I pulled over it wasn't hot at all. Just now water squirting everywhere and puddled up on the ground. So if you can explain to me what exactly what this auto repair shop is doing and if they are jerking me atound. Also should I have them change the pulleys and belts while they have it all taken apart?
My car has 174000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
