Q: When SUV is off, in gear & exited, it starts rolling

asked by on July 25, 2016

When I turn off the engine while it is in gear and exit my SUV, it will start rolling away. Whether it’s forward or backward - both ways it will start rolling. (With the push start button, this is easy to do.) This has happened two different times to me and each time it almost caused a serious accident. The shocking thing is that I talked to GM and they told me that this is normal. What!! Can you give me your advice on how to fix this problem?

Steering wheel clicks when turned and rattles over some bumps and bad roads
At 47,000 miles, I would not suspect your steering column is worn. Depending on the history (wrecks, fender benders, potholes, etc), you may have worn out components in your front suspension. A clunking noise over bumps is likely a sway...

I would recommend a transmission...

I have a 2013 Honda Civic with 80,000 miles. It makes a squeaking noise while driving.
The factory brake pads do have a noisemaker tab that scrapes the brake rotor when the brake pads reach replacement thickness. It's pretty loud, so if you just have a mild squeaking that might be something else. At 80 K...
I have a 2012 equinox and it is rattling upon acceleration and kind of rough idleing when stopped
