What does the Trunk Open indicator mean?

A: Like your doors, your trunk is tied into a ...

Like your doors, your trunk is tied into a network of sensors. The sensor in the trunk tells the car’s computer if the lid is completely closed or not. If the trunk isn’t closed, driving is not advised. It can allow toxic exhaust fumes (carbon monoxide) into the cabin. If the light’s on, here’s what you need to know:

  1. The light will come on for a few seconds when you start the car and then turn off

  2. The light will come on if the trunk lid isn’t closed or isn’t closed completely

  3. Check the trunk lid and close it to turn off the light
