What does the Low Oil Pressure warning light mean?

The Low Oil Pressure warning light is located on your instrument panel. When the light illuminates, it means that your engine has low oil pressure, which could be due to insufficient levels of oil, or a leak in the system. Your vehicle should be inspected as soon as possible. Tip Like all warning lights, the Low Oil Pressure warning light briefly illuminates when the car is first turned on. The light is only a problem if it stays lit when the engine is turned on.

Knocking in engine
Hi. I will assume the car has a manual transmission in which case, there is a bolt underneath the shifter that helps the gear linkage pivot. Over time, this bolt can become loose which will create the extra play in...
Service engine soon light stays on after repairs
If the light is still on, then it may still have a problem that is still there. I recommend having the ECM scanned (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-do-i-look-up-what-different-codes-mean) and the codes received should be diagnosed. The code may be the only tool for an...
The car cranks but it won't start
Fuel pressure and ignition spark need to be checked. Also, having fault codes checked in the engine computer is also necessary as hard faults that may prevent the vehicle starting could be stored. A faulty ground will generally be accompanied...

My 2003 Town Car is showing that the 8th cylinder is misfiring. Do I have to replace the ignition coil as a result?
Hi, thanks for writing in. A misfire code only says the cylinder is not contributing to power in the motor. You may have no or low compression, a bad coil (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-ignition-coil), injector problems (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-fuel-injector), or a plug problem (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-bad-or-failing-spark-plugs). Coolant leak from behind the intake manifold. 2000 Saturn SL
Hello - yes, this is one of the heater hoses, and a leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-coolant-tube) at that hose connection is the most likely source. I would recommend a heater hose replacement (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/heater-hoses-replacement) (for both heater and radiator hoses if they haven't...
I shifted my Jeep from 4Hi to 4lo and when I put it in drive the tires are not moving.
Does the engine just rev and the vehicle does not move? Generally this indicates some kind of slip in the transmission but may also be caused by a low fluid level. Have the fluid level and condition checked first and...
Turns over but wont start
A no start diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-not-starting-inspection) would reveal the cause. Try holding the accelerator pedal to the floor and cranking the engine. If the idle air control valve is stuck closed and/or the intake air charge is insufficient, the vehicle should...
My brakes are messed up
The noise is coming from your brake booster has a vacuum leak and will need to be replaced. This is why your engine runs rough when you press the brakes.
