2011 VW Jetta, car key comes in and out of ignition no problem, it just won't turn to start the car Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged? Steering wheel is not locked. Key is fine. Even tried using my spare key with the same result Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Jetta yourself? Thanks for those details. Since 2 keys will not turn and the steering is not locked. This means the tumblers in the ignition cylinder are worn out. You will need to replace the cylinder and the new cylinder will need to built with tumblers to match your 2 current keys so programming will not be needed. Thats what I figured. Where Can I get the cylinder as I plan on doing it myself?

It would be best to use a part from your local dealer. You need to take your key and or vin#, so they can get your the key cut code or install the correct tumblers for you.
