My 2005 Toyota Avalon got broken into they busted the passenger rear little window now the car will not start it won't even crank Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuel supply? And are all the spark plugs working? Yes it won't even crank Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Avalon yourself? What have you tried so far? I've tried disconnecting the battery and resetting the ECU. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? And yes I'm fixing it myself

Hello my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I would like to assist you with your Toyota. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with. I am sorry to hear someone broke into your car. Couple questions if you turn the headlights on do they come on? It sounds like when they broke into your car the battery went dead. Let me know what all you have tried so far?

the headlights come on. The battery isn't dead.

Ok does it have a factory alarm or aftermarket alarm. Because a broken window won’t cause it not to start unless they tried to steal the car and cut some wires at the ignition switch. When you turn the key what dash lights come on?

Ok sorry for the delay. All the dash lights are normal.

When you try to start it do you hear a click or is there no sound at all?

There is a click

Inside the cab
Automotive Expert
Ok it almost sounds like it’s the starter that’s bad do you have a meter or a test light we can check to see if we are getting power to the starter. There are 2 wires to check 1 is constant power and the other will only have power when you try to start the car. That’s the next step.

The click is coming from the inside of the cab underneath by where you pop the hoodI get what you're trying to refer to when you say click.b it's the click when you have a dead battery or like you said the starter is going out. It is not that click there is no click outside the cab.
Automotive Expert
Ok then we need to check power out of the ignition switch to establish which way we need to start testing. Do you have a meter?

Ok I do but not on me right now.

I will text when I get off of work.

What should I do to troubleshoot the active park assist system?
While your car’s active park assist (APA) system isn’t designed to require maintenance, there may be problems that crop up from time to time. The following list should give you the ability to troubleshoot some common problems on your own:...
No pressure to accelerator.
It sounds like there is an issue with your accelerator cable. It is possible that it may be broken or has come detached from the throttle of your engine. I would recommend that you enlist the help of a certified...
RPMs idle low
You should make sure that the timing belt and water pump job were done correctly and are not the cause of the other issues you are having. Then the other problems can be checked out if not related. I recommend...
Radio stays on after key is removed and car exited
Hello. If this is the factory radio then you more than likely have an issue with the retained accessory power system. This is what allows the system to retain power when the key is off until the door is open....
My car idles roughly and wants to die when I give it gas what could this be?
With this kind of engine issue, I would imagine that your Check Engine Light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) is on, indicating that the built in diagnostics have logged and error and a diagnostic trouble code. It will be important to know these codes...
Using oil blend on a car that requires synthetic oil
Looking at the information for your vehicle, it does not say that synthetic oil is required. Using a synthetic blend will be just fine. You can also switch back and forth (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/can-you-switch-between-regular-and-synthetic-motor-oil) between synthetic and non-synthetic without doing any damage....
Small bump caused rear-end suspension & stabilization bar damage
This sounds interesting. I have not experienced such a situation before. I can't imagine a small bump causing such damage unless the vehicle crossed over the object with the rear end and possibly bent something. You may want to at...
intake leak and sputters and dies
This could be a variety of issues causing the rough idling. The oil leak at the intake suggests you may have a blown head gasket. Has the car gotten abnormally hot (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-overheating-inspection)? If so, this could explain the leak and...
My honda civic 2008's car AC stopped working and is creating rattling sound. when inspected by a mechanic, it said he need to repl
Hi there. The items you've listed including the condenser and compressor themselves are typically installed by local mechanic shops for $500 to $700 individually. So, the estimate you've listed for all of that service seems rather fair. As long as...
