Q: Should I replace my fuel pump also?

asked by on

My trucks gas tank started leaking awhile back. I quickly fixed it (or thought I had) when I patched it with quick steel. However the tank has since the started leaking around both patches. I have decided to just replace the fuel tank. My question is wether I should just go ahead and replace the fuel pump or just wait?

My car has 218000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If the fuel pump has not been replaced before or in the last 3 years then I would recommend replacing the pump and filter with the new fuel tank replacement.
