Backup Light Switch Replacement $114.44 - $232.01 Get a Quote

Hi - most likely the reverse light switch is working erratically. It is mounted on the gearbox, and is subject to vibration as well as oil on the switch contacts. I recommend a reverse light switch replacement by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, and replace this component.

Vibration at low speeds in first and second
Vibrations at low speeds or when the clutch initially engages are usually caused by hot spots on the flywheel. These hot spots are hardened areas of the flywheel that are caused by heat. When the clutch tries to engage on...
RPMs rise 1100 to 700; then to 1200; then down
Hi there. This is usually either caused by a bad idle control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) or a vacuum leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-vacuum-leak). The idle control valve is located near the throttle body. It can also be a dirty throttle body. I usually start...
I can hear the fan of the car turning on often, could that indicate serious engine problems?
Hi, thanks for writing in. Newer vehicles, such as the Cruze, run hotter for greater fuel efficiency. It also means the engine is running closer to "maximum" temperature more of the time, which included running the auxiliary electric fan more...
Good bulbs, good fuses, only middle brake light working, 2001 Honda Civic

Shaking
Shaking or vibration (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-is-shaking-pulsating-or-vibrating-inspection) may be caused by many different things such as faulty spark plugs, poor fuel pressure or misfires. Very slow coolant leak
Hi there. I wouldn't assume that you have a coolant leak based on coolant being present after the vehicle overheated. In most cases, the coolant will boil out of the radiator cap and cause this type of 'spillage'. If you've...
