Q: Rear Driver side axle bearing

asked by on

My husband is a mechanic but can't determine through research if this is a hub assembly or does the whole axle shaft need to come out to replace a wheel bearing on the rear driver side?

My car has 150000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

On the Grand Marquis, the front wheel bearings are of the ’hub & bearing’ type. The entire hub is replaced. With the rear bearings, the axles must be removed to remove and replace the wheel bearings. Hope this helps.
