Q: Rattle/vibration on start up

asked by on

When i start my 2009 vauxhall insignia up theres a rattle and and vibration sound coming from under the car somewhere but once driven it goes bit comes back when parked on uneven ground or on a tilt what could it be ?

Noises like this can be due to exhaust system faults such as loose pipes or hangers. If the noise is occurring at idle in park, if you securely set the parking brake, you may be able to walk around the car and pin down the origin, or at least the general area. If not, by all means request a noise/vibration diagnostic from YourMechanic. Other possible cause of rattling include the torque converter (if equipped with an automatic transmission), loose motor mounts causing engine interference, internal engine mechanical faults, and failing accessory drives and pulleys.
