Good Evening ,
if the transmission fluid is burnt and it wont pul , then it will ne a rebuild , it likely burned up the clutches in it .

ok but what if it kicks into reverse fine?

If it wont pull at all in one direction , then its an internal problem , solenoids will only control shifting .

after i gain speed to about 40mph than it drives like normal

you are talking a rebuild once you are going to do that . so its either a rebuild or a used one then
