When you crank it up or stop and the truck is idle the oil pressure light comes on but when you press the gas it goes back to normal.

The oil pressure switch on the engine is open or closed. As long as the pressure is normal, the switch stays closed causing the PCM to signal the instrument cluster to move the oil gauge to normal range. You should scan the computer to see if the sending unit is indicating open or closed. If it is open then you will need to manually check the oil pressure to see if it is within specifications. If pressures are okay then replace the pressure sensor. If you need, YourMechanic can send a trained professional to your location to inspect the oil pressure malfunction.

This may be a sign of a faulty MAP sensor. The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor senses engine load and generates a signal that is proportional to the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. The engine computer then uses...

My engine is running too lean

Hi there. The high octane gas should not cause this; the new air intake definitely could, though. With more air entering the engine, the computer sensor readings are going to be thrown off. I would recommend that you first make...

Hello. My heat will not come on. There is no leaks but my hose it hard as a rock. What could be the problem?

You need to feel both heater hoses coming from engine to heater core on firewall to see if they are hot? If not hot then engine thermostat is stuck open. If they are hot then you may have a bad...

Brake ABS CEL on/off . ABS pulses once during braking, electrical system goes weak, wiper and lights weak.

I don't know if all this started happening simultaneously or if these issues have been slowly accumulating, but here is how I would proceed: begin with a battery test and clean and make sure to tighten the cable connections. Replace...

Today my oil pressure gauge jumped to high. It still runs fine, no awkward sound or anything, but as soon as I turn the key to accelerate, it shoots back to normal range

Hi, thanks for writing in. With the key on engine off, your gauge should read low pressure. The oil sender near oil filter should be disconnected to see if the gauge now reads zero pressure. Now ground the wire you...

Red blinking light under dash

Hello, thank you for writing in. If there are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, you should have nothing to worry about. With that being said, the flashing bulb under the dash is most likely the security system warning...
