Q: Oil leak issues

asked by on January 26, 2017

My car is losing oil really fastly. I got my oil changed less than a week ago and my cars oil is empty already. Could my engine blow up?

My car has 196000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If you open the oil cap while the engine is running to see if excessive amounts of oil smoke comes out indicating the engine has excessive blow by the pistons. The engine piston rings are most likely not sealing. You should have a compression and pressure test to get condition of motor.

Engine revs way up when started, then behaves normally. If the car has recently been started, it doesn’t have this issue.
It is normal for the engine rpm to go up to about 1200 to 1400 rpm when first started and then comes down gradually. This is for emissions during cold start and considered normal. If you feel it is not...
