Q: No cold air from AC

asked by on

The air conditioner only blows hot air.

If the AC is only blowing hot air then most of the time it is because the AC compressor is not turning on. The compressor will not turn on for a number of reasons, but the most common is low refrigerant. If the refrigerant is low then the pressure switches will keep the system from working. I typically start by checking the pressure in the system with a pressure gauge set. If the system is empty then there is a large leak that must be found. If the system is low I would add some refrigerant to see if it helps. If the pressure is good then an electrical diagnosis will need to be done of the control system. If you need to have this done, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose and repair the AC issue.
