My car has an automatic transmission.
The first thing to check is to see if the transmission is low on fluid or there is a major leak on the transmission. If the fluid is full and no leaks are found then the transmission has an internal front pump failure and may need to be overhauled. Have a transmission mechanic check the transmission if this is the case.
