Many automotive systems today rely on software. Should that software develop errors, which can happen from something like a low battery, disconnecting the battery, or interrupting a learn procedure, it can cause all sorts of odd electrical problems that can be hard to troubleshoot. Try doing a battery cable reset; it just might do the trick. A battery cable reset forces all capacitors to discharge faster, and clears and resets most control unit volatile memory. It's like removing and reinstalling the battery in a cell phone that's acting weird or locking up. Before you start, make sure the battery is fully charged. A low battery can cause problems with electronics. Then, get the anti-theft code for the radio (if applicable). Now, follow these steps: 1.Turn/push the ignition switch to LOCK (Off), and remove the key from the vehicle. This lessens the chance of voltage spikes. 2.Disconnect the battery cables-negative cable first, then positive. 3.Connect the positive and negative battery cables together. (make sure the cables are disconnected from the battery and they do not come in contact with the battery terminals) 4.Turn/push the ignition switch to ON (Not start), and wait 10 minutes. 5.Turn/push the ignition switch to LOCK (Off), and remove the key from the vehicle. 6.Reconnect the battery cables to the battery. Positive cable first, then negative. If this reset doesn't work then you will need to connect a scan tool to the vehicle and check for trouble codes and also check the inputs/outputs of the module and also check for software errors.

Where do I find the code?

If it's not in your original paperwork, you'll have to get it from the dealership..

Can you explain number 3 for me. Do connect them both at the same time?
Automotive Expert
You will connect the cables together by touching them together. They will have already been disconnected from the battery.

Oh ok. I will try what you said and message you back. I’m going to go do it right now
Automotive Expert
Ok sounds good.

The cables don’t reach each other. Do to how Mercedes puts battery’s in some of there cars. In my case it’s under the passenger front seat. I have them both disconnected now. But can’t get them to touch. To short.
Automotive Expert
You can use some jumper cables to connect them together.

How would I do that? By connecting the positive jumper cable to the positive and negative jumper cable to the negative? Or do I put both positive and negative on positive and the same to the negative?
Automotive Expert
Just use the positive part of the jumper cables to connect the + and - battery cables together.

Ok going now
Automotive Expert
Ok.

Didn’t work. Lights still staying on

If this reset doesn't work then you will need to connect a scan tool to the vehicle and check for trouble codes and also check the inputs/outputs of the module and also check for software errors.

Ok . I will try it again in a lil bit. If it doesn’t work the next time I will take it to a dealership. To have it read with a scan. Thank you.
