Q: Linkage needs adjusted.

asked by on February 02, 2017

Wont leave first gear when pressing gas pedal

My car has 130000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

The cable that needs adjusted is the kickdown cable for the transmission. This controls the throttle valve on the transmission which keeps line pressure higher than the shift pressure to prevent the transmission from stack shifting. If you need further assistance with the kickdown cable adjustment / replacement, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
