I have transmission fluid leaking on to exhaust pipe Mechanic's Assistant: Can you actually see the leak? And is the fluid itself bright red, or is it dirty? Red Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your transmissions? 2012 jeep wrangler Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Wrangler yourself? What have you tried so far? It will be alright to drive it nine miles in my opinion, as long as it's not leaking really bad. Is it really leaking bad, or just an occasional drip?

Occasional drip, some white smoke and smells bad
Automotive Expert
Yes, I understand, alright, hopefully it's not leaking right out the front, as that would probably be a front pump seal, and would have to come out, but hopefully it's just a line or pan gasket. It will be alright to drive it, I would top it off and drive it if it were mine. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you!

Ok thanks, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* looked at exhaust pipe and it's covered with fluid, fluid level is low
Automotive Expert
Alright, I would go ahead and top it off for sure before driving it. but don't over fill it.

Ok thanks, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* of fire with fluid on exhaust pipe?
Automotive Expert
In my opinion no. I've never seen it before with transmission fluid.

Great, thanks
Automotive Expert
I guess anything is possible, but, I personally have never seen transmission fluid catch on fire before from hitting an exhaust pipe in my 30 years of doing mechanic work. Thank you!

Extremely low oil & knocking noise
If the engine is to the point of making knocking sounds (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/noise-from-engine-or-exhaust-inspection), there is probably internal damage at this point due to the low oil level. If the crankshaft is scored from lack of oil, then oil pressure will not...

Car jerks
The problem is inside the transmission with pressures or shift solenoids and will need to have a transmission expert test and diagnose it to isolate the cause.
