Q: i've been starting my car every day to keep it up and running but today it won't start and it smells badly of gas

the lights come on, so it isn't a battery issue and it cranks but doesn't fully catch. i'm 15 and don't drive it regularly yet, so it does sit most of the time. i have limited knowledge of cars other than the basics and google
