Q: Hood cable broken

asked by on

Need to get hood open cable is broke

My car has 43000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello. The best way to get the hood open when the cable is broken from the lever is to use a pair of pliers to pull on the cable very hard. This should created the same force that is created by the lever to open the hood. Once the hood is open, you can then have the cable replaced by a qualified professional or you can just use a pair of pliers to open the hood each time. Both of these options will work just fine as the hood latch does not affect the performance of the vehicle.
