Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Who am I helping today? I'm glad you've come here to get help. I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for. I help many customers, so sometimes my replies are delayed, I will respond once available. I try to be online at 1-5 pm and 10 pm-5 am every day. - Have you checked the transaxle oil level, color, and odor for concerns? - Do you have a scan tool to see if there are codes stored? - Does reverse work correct?

I do not have any tools. It does go in reverseMy name is marlo

Welcome, Mario Are you planning to diagnose and repair yourself or take the vehicle to a shop to be repaired?

If we can fix it I would rather I have family who can help
Automotive Expert
Will your family be able to do the steps I mentioned prior?

What do u think it could be is it [transmission](/topics-transmission-ford/)
Automotive Expert
Yes, so far the concern does indicate there are transaxle issues.

can that be fixed
Automotive Expert
Yes, almost anything can be fixed. We just need to diagnose what's wrong.

Ok let's do that
Automotive Expert
Great, once you can do the things I asked prior, report back then, Mario

I paid 5 dollars to have to wait

I am not able to help you diagnose your vehicle and tell you what is wrong when you are not able to right now check the fluid and check for codes. I can provide an answer based on an educated guess without doing any diagnostics if you would rather.

Automotive Expert
My best-educated guess at this time will be a concern with: - The transmission range sensor reading incorrectly - Shift linkage out of adjustment - Low fluid level from a leak - Burnt clutches causing a pressure loss - Faulty valve body, sticking valves, or leaking separator plate gasket - Faulty solenoids, electrically not working or mechanically sticking - Wiring concern to the transaxle, causing loss of signal orresistance Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Fans not coming on.

Hello. You engine should be equipped with a viscous fan for the cooling system. It uses heat from the radiator to engage the fan so that it spins with the engine, which pulls air through the radiator. Typically this fan...

The RPM's on my car are increasing more quickly than I am accelerating

Hi there. If the O/D light was blinking, then that typically means that the computer is seeing a transmission problem. It can be as simple as a speed sensor or as complicated as a serious internal transmission failure. This can...

Installed new battery but car won't start - 2005 Honda Civic

Your symptoms could be caused by several components. At first, it sounds like the starter is cranking, but isn't powerful enough to turn over the engine. This could be due to a bad electrical connection or faulty starter. Replacing the...

Once my car reaches 60MPH, the steering wheel/vehicle shakes and vibrates intensely.

Tires that "appear" perfectly balanced on a dynamic balancer can still vibrate like crazy on a car if there is significant radial force variation in the tire construction, defective belts, cupping, uneven wear and so forth. If you have moved...

Last night I was driving home and I heard this knocking noise, a minute later the noise went away and my check engine light came on.

Hi there. The noise you heard could have been the engine knocking due to a lack of engine oil. If the brake pedal is pressed and the oil light comes on, then the oil level could be low causing the...

I accidentally double turned the key while trying to start up my car now it makes a grinding noise 2002 Ford Taurus

Hello. Most of the time when this occurs it is because the second start caused damage to the starter. If the grind only happened once and did not occur again then it is fine. If the noise is constant now...

Shifting into 2nd at high RPM

Hi there. It is very possible that the speed sensor or shift solenoid is the primary source of this type of issue with the first to second shift. However, a worn out torque converter or an obstruction inside the transmission...

Car loses power while driving

Hi there. Once your car starts, the job of the battery is pretty much done. As the engine operates, a drive belt powers the alternator which supplies electricity to all components, systems and accessories. If the alternator is faulty, it...
