Q: Door not opening

asked by on

My driver's side door is not opening.

A: If neither the inner or outer door handle w...

If neither the inner or outer door handle will open the door then it is most likely a faulty latch that should be replaced. This can be a difficult repair, as access to the latch will be tricky since the door is closed. If the door can be opened by either the inner or outer handle only then the latch is generally not the issue but one of the handle mechanisms. Common issues are the outer door handle plastic breaks or the inner door handle breaks internally and will not pull the inner cables to open the door. There will be some special tools and procedures necessary to complete this repair. You may want to enlist the help of a mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, to assist in the diagnosis and repair of your door.
