Q: Does a replaced water pump last a car's life time?

asked by on

One year ago,I had the water pump replaced on my contour. I . recently had some expensive repairs done..i Got the car back. now water pump leaks?

My car has 160000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

A water pump will last a long time but never the lifetime of the car. If the cooling system is not well maintained the debris in the system will wear the water pump seal faster than normal. The replacement water pump used a year ago may have not been of a good quality pump and could have failed again.
