My van stalls a lot will a bad oil cooler cause this Mechanic's Assistant: Is the check engine light on? Does the car stall at idle or when driving? No engine light but it shuts off when I come to a stop or sometimes when I start to drive but starts right back up Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2016 Dodge Grand [Caravan sxt](/topics-caravan-sxt/) Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Grand Caravan yourself? What have you tried so far? Took to dealership but they said they can’t find out what’s causing it Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No an oil cooler will not cause a stalling issue. It will cause a bad leak and is very common with the 3.6 v6. A bad catalytic converter coud cause this though. If it is stopped up the engine can't breathe and will stall. Could be many other things though also. Crank sensor, fuel pump, wiring, PCM, ect.... only way to know is to have it on a scan tool when it happens and monitor some data to see what is happening.

Thanks for the information my van is currently at the dealership now and I'm confused as to why they can't find what's wrong
Automotive Expert
You are welcome glad to help. They probably can't duplicate it. Happens alot on cars but they just have to hook a scanner to it and drive it and make it act up and hope they capture what is going on.

At one time I had a code p0420 would that cause the constant stalling
Automotive Expert
That code is for a faulty catilytic converter, exhaust leak, faulty 02 sensor. It could cause stalling but the cat would have to be broken up and causing a restriction randomly and I just don't see that being the cause. It is probably a wiring issue. Here is what I would do. I would do a fuel pressure test with a gauge and drive it until it acts up and see if the fuel pressure drops. They are known for the fuel pump relay failing in the TIPM. This will check it.

Ok hopefully they do what you suggestedWithout me saying anything
Automotive Expert
Yea hopefully so but you could suggest it. Wont hurt.

Okay thanks

While it’s important to wear your seat belt and have your seat back in the proper position, it’s just as important to sit in the right position while driving or riding. Sit upright, completely against the back of the seat...
New installed ECM, vehicle won't turn on. Does it require key programmed? Doesn't even crank. Please help
The ignition does not need to be programmed in order for the engine to crank over. You should check the starter relay (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/starter-relay-replacement) on the fender near the battery to see if it is getting power from the ignition switch...
Why car surges when get in last gear n rpm goes up and down. shift good until last gear

Revs drop when steering is turned
You are correct on both actually. It is likely a failing power steering pump (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/power-steering-pump-replacement). When the pump binds up and creates an extra load on the drive belts. This puts the extra stress on all of the other components...

Car won't start but lights turn on Chrysler 200
First thing to check would be the battery. While it can have enough power to turn accessories like the lights on, it may not have enough cranking amps to start the engine or allow the security system to trigger start...
The sound has stopped working from my aux input in my fusion. It says line in but will not play any sound. Any advice??
It sounds like you may be having an issue with the auxilary cord itself. These cords often times fail internally causing one or more speakers to stop playing sound. I would recommend getting a new aux cord to rule out...

Should oxygen sensor get warm when you turn on the ignition only
HI there. Yes, when the key is turned on any heated oxygen sensor will start to heat up. Most will not continue unless the engine is started. This depends on the vehicle application.
