Q: Disable horn with engine running

asked by on

The horn honks when exiting the vehicle while the engine is still running. Can it be disabled?

My car has 16000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello, thank you for writing in. There are no "stock" or "manufacture" methods of turning off the IA system. Your owner’s manual should have some more basic information about the system, and you should read up on it there if you have not already. There are a few things you can do in order to prevent the honk. These include leaving the key in the vehicle (although not the safest option in regards to auto theft), leaving the door open, or turning off the vehicle. There may be a way to disable the system through programming the software. However this is likely to void any warranty you may have, and possibly cause other more serious issues down the line. For more help if you feel the system is malfunctioning, contact our service department for an inspection.
