Hi. My Chrysler [300c](/topics-300c/) had a flat [battery](/topics-battery-chrysler/). I have installed a new battery. The car started and then powered off. It did this about 3-4 times and now wont start at all. Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded? No, they are in good condition. The car has power - power windows working etc Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your 300C? 2006 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 300C yourself? What have you tried so far? I havent tried anything. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? I dont think so

Do you have a multimeter nearby that we can check battery voltage with? If you've already done that, do you happen to know what the voltage was when the vehicle was running? It's possible that we're looking at an alternator charging issue if it only ran for awhile after the new battery, or a starter motor if it won't start with a new battery. Does the car click when trying to start, one single time, rapidly "click click click" or not make any noise at all?

No noise at all

Do you know if your new battery is still fully charged? Does the car have a metal ignition key, or key fob with push start?

Instrument panel lights up. Power windows work etcMetal key. The battery is brand new

There is an important fuse and relay in the [engine](/topics-engine-chrysler/) bay to check as well, both used for starting. There is a 5A fuse with the relay directly beside it in the box.

I'm sending a link to a video showing the fuses, and relays revolving around the starting system. It's possible one of these has blown when connecting the new battery, and power is not getting to your starter. This is the best way to show you the exact location of the fuses- https://youtu.be/u22F2MgWsHw

I saw that on youtube. Should i try replacing with the horn relay
Automotive Expert
Yes, that would work temporarily to test the relay- But be sure and check those fuses as well

Ok. Thank you for your help.

No problem! Enjoy your week and thanks again.

Just want to know what it is.
The relay maybe for the horn or for the security system. Look at the relay and follow the wiring to determine what the relay operates. slightly rough idle only in drive position but the rpm needle doesnt move - i had the intake mainfold replaced already
The vibration could be due to faulty motor mounts. To cover both that possibility, and the possibility that the vibration stems from an engine management fault, I would suggest that you request a rough operation/rough idle diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-idle-is-rough-inspection) and the...
