Hi there, yes the brake light switch is directly involved in the interlock. Check to see if your [brakes](/topics-brakes/) work first. Brake lights.

I checked the brakes the brake lights come on the [turn signal](/topics-turn-signal/) comes on and the lights are not on even when I turn the vehicle offI do have brake lights

In this case, not very common. I would start by locating the actual shift lock solenoid and testing for power and ground then we can work from there. It is in the column with tan/whit and black wires. You can usually manually move it and make sure you can shift it properly.

I just replace the solenoid and when I go to put it in drive it's still not moving

We need to find out if we are missing power or ground to the solenoid then we can diagnose from there. Test with a test light and unplugged and let me know what is missing. Black is ground.

OkayI checked it but the test like and it's getting power

SO that power should come on and off with the brake pedal being depressed. Is the ground there? (Black wire)

If power and ground is there it has to be working.

I have been running I stepped on the brake pedal . It's shifting but not going into gear

Ok we have a transmission issue then. Check the transmission fluid level.

Okay checked it and it is at level

Unfortunately something is wring in the transmission and will have to see a shop.
