I have a 2008 chevy aveo with three ecm codes, p2106, p2110, and p161b, it's idling rough and will not leave limp mode or safe mode Mechanic's Assistant: Is the rough idle intermittent or consistent? Consistent Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Aveo yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes, I have removed and cleaned the throttle body is best I can check and cleared all codes, and it keeps happening

Automotive Expert
Hey there, my name is Jake. Sorry to see your having issues, but thanks for reaching out for assistance

Thank you for being available
Automotive Expert
no problem, you may be in luck here. The codes are generally caused by the MAP sensor vacuum hose coming apart or coming off is all. Sometimes the throttle body is involved, but I would start by inspecting that hose it's generally all that's needed.

That would be the hose coming off the fresh air intake hose leading to the valve cover correct
Automotive Expert
intake manifold

Thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* that, it looks to be cracked, but if that is not the full problem, what other things could I be looking for
Automotive Expert
here is a pic of the sensor
Automotive Expert
fix it! clear the codes and it should resolve. Seen this quite a few times. if not, i would suspect a throttle body issue next. The ECM is fine.

Thank you, I'll fix it now, and clear the code, and let you know what happens, car hasn't ran in 4 months
Automotive Expert
perfect, I will leave this open for us. talk to you later.

That would be great thank you
Automotive Expert
no problem

Great, that seems to have fixed it, I'm not sure if it's been because it hasn't ran in 4 months, but I'm now hearing it tick come out of the top end
Automotive Expert
might be from it sitting. I'd recommend a fresh oil change and DRIVING it to make the tick go away.

Okay thank you very much
Automotive Expert
when it sits that long there is essentially no oil in the top end at initial start up, wouldn't be a huge concern unless it worsened after a drive. your welcome

Can a Brake Leak Cause My Brakes to Fail?
Yes, but only if the leak is large and sudden. Such leaks are typically due to a blown steel brake line (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-can-cause-brake-fluid-to-leak-from-the-brake-system) (due to rust) or a blown rubber hose. Even in the event of a large leak, in a...

Hello. I would suggest that you try using white lithium grease. This is the best way to lubricate door hinges, but it may leave a white film on the hinges. Although this may be a bit unappealing, it may be...
Car does not move in forward gear, previously had a burning smell in car
From what you are explaining and from my experience with this vehicle it does sound like a transmission failure. It is common for the forward clutch back to fail all of a sudden, or for the forward clutch case to...
Need to know what to do with these codes generated
All the generated codes will need further inspection from a mechanic. The P0300, P0301, and P0305 are all misfires in the engine and could also cause some of the additional codes. You will need to have a diagnostics done and...
It's a long noise when I'm driving ,like a clacking - hard noise under the right passenger side .Could it be the CV shaft?
Hi there. If the vehicle was driven for more than 1 mile with the engine oil at only about 2 quarts, then the bearings have burned and now are knocking. The right side of your engine now has an engine...
Transmission fluid capacity Aisan TF 80 ?
Hi there - this transmission holds approximately 4 quarts of fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-long-does-transmission-fluid-last). However, it is impossible to change the fluid by simply draining the fluid - will only get a fraction of this amount. Fluid changes with a fluid change...

2008 Land Rover LR2 se. Over heating after cooling fluid was up in the day before. The car took almost 2galons when heated.
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a coolant leak of some kind such as a failing water pump that may be leaking or potentially the beginning of a blown head gasket that may be causing the coolant to...
