Q: Car does not move in forward gear, previously had a burning smell in car

2005 Dogde Caravan SXT FWD Transmission A-604 / 41TE 4 speed. Problem: transmission goes in reverse in netrual reverse, and park but no forward drive. You can feel a little forward resistance when you rev up the engine. I am looking for a mechanic who has experience with these transmissions, as I have a problem. As a Heavy duty mechanic with 35 years I have a some idea as to how things work inside. I don’t think it is something bad inside the transmission. Here is what happened and what I have done ( tryed so far ) My dodge caravan was parked facing down a steep hill. I let my daughter use the car. She started the car and put the van in reverse to back up the hill and giving gas she claims she smell a burning marshmallow smell so she stopped the van, and shut off the key. Came and go me about 1 mins time. I went and checked the van and did not smell anything to badly like an faint electrical smell. I started the van fine and let run in park for a min or so. No problem.

My car has 102000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Car stalled and now won't start
The first two codes point to the bank 2 sensor 2 and could be a problem with the wiring to the sensor or the catalyst is broken up and clogged the exhaust. The last code P0402 is for the EGR...
Had a hole in the oil pan so replaced it. Ever since then the oil filter will spray out oil.
Try checking all of the fittings near and around the oil filter housing as well as the oil pump. Check to be sure the correct O-ring is sealing correctly when the oil filter is screwed on as this is a...
Clicking noise at lowspeed turns, vibration when stopping abruptly, mechanic said need axles & no grease left. how long do i have?
As for "how long you have", unfortunately you needed to replace them when they were mentioned. With no grease to protect and lubricate them, the clicking noise you hear is the joints (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ball-joint-front-replacement) basically grinding themselves apart. Is this potentially...
The oil pressure is fine but when I crank the car and when it warms up it drops down to maybe 20 and starts knocking a little. Whats wrong?
The first step is to check the level of the oil. Assuming it's full, and there are no leaks on the system, it could be the pump or the sensor. The easiest way, despite that you need a special tool,...

The car shakes some when braking. What could be the problem?
What you are describing is a sign of warped brake rotors. As you may know, when you press on your brake pedal, this activates a hydraulic pressure which forces small pistons inside your brake calipers (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brake-pads-replacement) to push the brake...
Crank no start

Low Oil PSI
Hi Roger. Although it is possible that your catalytic converter might be wearing out, it's most likely not the source of your oil pressure problem. Typically when an engine develops excessive sludge (caused by carbon deposits from burning gasoline) will...
when i step on the gas pedal i hear a popping sound
The term popping sound most often comes up to describe the sound made by CV and Universal joints. Of course from where I sit I can't interpret the sound your land rover is making, but CV and universal joints are...
