Has the mechanic checked to see if there is coolant leaking from A/C heat drain tube to see if [heater core](/topics-heater-core-chevy/) is leaking? To answer your question yes the engine may not overheat from a water pump leak as long as there is enough coolant in engine, but as soon as enough coolant leaks out it will overheat again.

Have the mechanic put pressure on system and show you that the water pump is leaking. The water pump will leak from a small hole on bottom of pump and has to be replaced to fix the leak.

According to mechanic they have checked everything. I have taken it back 4 times. Yesterday they now said it's water pump. I had water pump replaced about 3 years ago.Pressure tested 3 timesThey didn't show me water pump leaking with pressure test.

Like I said before. Have the mechanic put pressure tester on vehicle and this will cause the coolant to leak from where ever it is leaking and then have them show you where it is leaking from water pump. You need to ask them to show you before since I have seen where a hose leaks and thought if was from water pump and it was only a loose hose clamp.

Thanks I will ask but they just want me to go away at this point. I spent $1,000 on new radiator. I'm contacting their corporate office.

If still getting a leak I would suggest you go to another shop to have test. Done and seek refund from pepboys.

Still coolant leak pooled on passenger side from heater hose. Took back tighten hoses. Still have coolant leak. Now mechanic say [water pump](/topics-water-pump/) need replacing.
