Q: Car won't start even though battery works

asked by on

After my car overheated, I replaced the water pump and the thermostat. Now, my car will not start. My battery is not dead.

Hello. Since you say the battery is fine, the most likely cause of this problem is that the timing belt isn’t installed correctly which would cause the car to not start up. A check of engine timing needs to be done by a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic. They will be able to give your vehicle a proper diagnosis of your car’s starting issue.
