Q: Car will not start

asked by on

My car is not starting.

Hello. If the engine is not cranking then it may be a battery or a starter. I would usually do a load test on the battery to make sure it is fine. If the battery is fine then I move on to testing for power at the starter. If there is power there then this would indicate that there is problem at the starter. If the engine is cranikng over and not starting, then this is typically caused by a crank sensor or a fuel pump problem. If the engine stalled while you were driving then it may have a broken timing belt. The most important thing to know first is when did this happen and does the engine crank or not. If this is something that you would like to have checked, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose your vehicle’s starting issue and make the necessary repairs.
