Hi Mike. Thanks for contacting us. There are a few possible reasons why you’re experiencing these symptoms. First and most common is that a vacuum line has not been installed correctly after removal of the water bypass outlet (which isn’t very common but some mechanics have to remove a few lines to gain access on this Lincoln). The second possibility is that this is not related to the recent repair, but due to a dirty or worn out fuel system component, such as a mass air flow sensor. It might save you some time and money to have a professional mechanic come to your location to complete an on-site inspection, so they can hopefully duplicate the symptom so they can determine what is causing the problem.

The statements expressed above are only for informational purposes and should be independently verified. Please see our terms of service for more details

I was told my radiator fan does not work. I need to know if its broke or is my thermostat stuck.
The radiator fan (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/cooling-radiator-fan-motor-replacement) should come on when the engine reaches a certain temperature, or immediately when you turn the air conditioning on (if so equipped). If the fan does not come on when the engine gets hot but does...
Check engine light P0302
Hello there, thanks for your question. I'd be happy to help. It does sound like a bad ignition coil (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-ignition-coil) is the cause of this P0302 trouble code (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0302-obd-ii-trouble-code-cylinder-2-misfire-detected-by-jamahl-walker). This is not uncommon since your car has over 100,000 miles....

Hear engine grinding noise at idle only-park or drive. Then goes away above idle. Not AC or any pumps. What is it?
Hi there. In many cases, the grinding noise coming from an engine at idle and in park can be caused by a VVT solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/variable-valve-timing-vvt-solenoid-replacement) or switch. Typically solenoid problems are caused by dirty oil, which clogs the screen that...
If you are replacing the heater core on your 2002 Jeep Liberty, would you also replace your thermostat at the same time?
Hi there: Anytime you replace cooling system components; like a heater core, it's always a good idea to replace the thermostat (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/thermostat-replacement) at the same time. In most cases, the thermostat is one part that tends to wear out sooner...

Hi there - when the "VDC (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/what-does-the-vehicle-dynamic-control-vdc-warning-light-mean)" light is illuminated on your dashboard, that means that Vehicle Dynamic Control is "OFF". There are hundreds of different diagnostic trouble codes than could potentially cause the check engine light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-does-the-check-engine-warning-light-mean-by-spencer-cates) to illuminate. Sometimes the issue is as simple as an EVAP system malfunction such as a loose or defective gas cap. If you...
