How to Get Lincoln Dealership Certified

James R. Martin /

If you are an automotive mechanic who wants to improve and gain the skills and certifications that Lincoln dealerships and other service centers are searching for, you might consider getting Lincoln dealership certified. If you're pursuing an automotive technician career, Lincoln and Ford have joined with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) to design a program that focuses on repairing Lincoln and Ford vehicles.

Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT)

UTI’s Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT) training is a 15-week course focusing on Ford and Lincoln vehicles and equipment. You will be able to earn up to 10 Ford Instructor-led classroom credentials along with 80 web-based credentials and 9 Ford specialty certification areas. You will also have the opportunity to achieve Quick Lane certification with Ford's Light Repair Technician and Quick Service training.

What You’ll Learn

While enrolled at FACT, you will learn fuel and emissions, electrical fundamentals, and engines. You will also encounter FACT standards, operations and procedures that are currently used in the field.

You will receive additional training in:

  • Electrical and electronics

  • Learn about fuel injection, diesel, and direct injection turbo. This includes 6.0L, 6.4L and 6.7L Ford Powerstroke engines

  • Advanced training on Ford electronics and electrical systems, including SYNC training, networks, anti-theft, module reprogramming, supplemental restraints, multiplexing, speed control, and navigation

  • The climate control course is designed to train students on the diagnostics and service skills for today's high tech air conditioning systems

  • Learn about Ford electronic steering and suspension, including diagnostic tools and special procedures

  • Learn to perform inspections along with maintenance and light repairs on current vehicles using Ford’s Quick Lane procedures

  • Get hands-on experience with Ford SOHC, OHC, and DOHC engines.

  • Learn to measure critical clearances along with proper disassembly and reassembly

  • Learn to perform diagnosis and service on new and old Ford brake systems

  • Using the latest test equipment, including the MTS4000 EVA, you will learn the principals of NVH and vibration frequencies

  • Engine theory and performance

  • Learn about the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) for exhaust, fuel/air, and emission systems

  • Ford Quick Service and Light Repair Technician Training

Hands-On Experience

FACT provides its students with hands-on experience. While enrolled in the 15-week program, you will also receive training in Ford's Quick Service and Light Repair Technician training. This includes vehicle maintenance service, and safety and multipoint inspections. Your instructors will emphasize ASE certification training and preparation throughout your time at FACT.

Is Going to Auto Mechanic School the Right Choice for Me?

Being certified through FACT will ensure that you are current on all the newest automotive technology, including hybrid vehicles. Although it is a time commitment, you may be able to earn a salary as you attend classes. You may also think of auto mechanic school as an investment in yourself, since your auto mechanic salary will most likely increase if you receive your FACT certificates.

Competition in the automotive industry is tough and getting tougher, with technician jobs becoming harder to find. By adding another skill set, you can only help to increase your auto mechanic salary.
