If the knock sensor is good then you need to test the wiring and the PCM circuits per the attached diagnostic steps. This will confirm if the issue is with a short in the knock sensor sub harness, the wiring harness or a bad PCM. Everything you need to test the knock sensor circuit is attached. I've included the engine wiring diagram, connector pinouts for the PCM, how to disconnect the PCM to access the wiring harness, knock sensor sub harness illustration and the step by step diagnostic procedure for P0325. We will be using a multi-meter to perform these tests. If you are not familiar with how to use a multi-meter then follow the link below to watch a video about multi-meter basics: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2LgvmWNVwc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2LgvmWNVwc) I’m glad that I was able to answer your question today. Brake lights not working.
Looking at the wiring diagram for your vehicle, it looks as though the mostly likely cause is a faulty brake lamp switch or a blown 20A fuse. The bulbs do not share a common ground. Check the fuse - your...
rough idle on start up everytime
You could have several things contributing to the hard start (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-hard-to-start-inspection). Dirty or faulty throttle valve, idle air control valve, bad temperature sensor, and more. I suggest having a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic, perform a few tests to...
White smoke coming out of hood when idle / stopped
This sounds unfortunately like a blown head gasket problem. The fluctuation in temperature and white smoke is usually a sign of this. I would suggest having the coolant tested for traces of combustion gases which will indicate if the head...
E-brake adjust.
Hello. These are two separate issues as the brake pedal is a hydraulic system operating with brake pads and rotors and the e-brake is a brake cable that leads to a brake drum assembly. First, lets address the brake pedal...
Trouble Starting, and sometimes doesn't start at all - Dies at idle from time to time.
Hello. Cleaning the throttle body and idle valve may have been needed, but the intermittent starting and dying symptom can be the camshaft (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/camshaft-position-sensor-replacement) and crankshaft sensors (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/crankshaft-position-sensor-replacement). These are the codes P0335 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0335-obd-ii-trouble-code-crankshaft-position-sensor-a-circuit-malfunction-by-spencer-clayton) and P0340 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0340-obd-ii-trouble-code-camshaft-position-sensor-circuit-malfunction-by-jamahl-walker). Does this transmission have a transmission filter that can or needs to be change at certain miles?
Most vehicles have an internal transmission filter that can be changed by removing the transmission pan. Some diesel trucks will have an external filter that can be changed just like an oil filter. The transmission filter is usually recommended to...
Cold engine misfire and hesitation - 1997 Dodge Dakota
Hi. I believe the ambient air temperature sensor, which measures the intake air temperature for engine management, has failed. It is reporting a far higher temperature than the engine is getting, as you have noted. Engine management is creating a...
When I put the key in the ignition, all lights come on but it will not start.
There should be power available at the starter solenoid and it is grounded by it's mounting to the engine and there is a ground cable attached to one of the mounting bolts. When the key is turned, there should be...
Car overheating in idle
It is possible that the leaking part is your water pump. Water pumps tend to leak when they fail as an indication that they are bad. I would recommend having your water pump inspected by a qualified professional to determine...
