Q: Car makes metal on metal noise during gear shifts.

asked by on February 28, 2018

Bought this car with 104k miles from a dealer in LA clean title one owner now it has 111k miles. Car makes wrattling noise when I drive when driving up a gradual slope like entering freeway. Specially when I’m trying to accelerate but it’s hard for the speed to pick up. It could be from the fan or exhaust but I got the exhaust checked and found nothing. Most important, I hear metal to metal hitting sound when my gear shifts and when I drive hard or accelerate fast specially when the car tries to upshift after acceleration. I changed 3 motor mounts thinking it’s the sound from it but yet I have the same sound. It’s comint from the front bottom of the engine. It’s loud metal to metal hitting sound when car upshifts to get into a gear right after I stopped acceleration reaching 40mph or 60mph.

My car has 111000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
